Simon & Schuster, the premier publisher in the world, is looking for a Software Developer to help us build great consumer and business applications. We`re a small shop and use Extreme Programming (XP) and Scrum practices. We value sustainable pace, work/life balance, and the sanity and happiness of our team members.
As a Developer at Simon & Schuster you will:
Build highly customized applications for both consumer and business audiences
Develop applications using the latest technologies
Constantly learn and implement the latest Agile practices
Actively contribute product ideas Be creative in your technical solutions
Use pair-programming extensively
Work in a Test Driven Development environment
Use and contribute to open source software projects
Your qualifications:
A solid foundation of Object Oriented concepts and experience (.NET, Ruby, Objective-C, Java, C++, Smalltalk, Python, etc.)
Working knowledge of Extreme Programming (XP), or a strong desire to learn
Strong interpersonal skills Experience building web and rich client applications
Knowledge of design patterns
Knowledge of Test Driven Development
Knowledge of Rspec, xUnit frameworks, FIT, UML
Experience working with database-backed applications
Ability to interact well with clients
Experience in Ruby, Ruby on Rails, a strong plus
Experience in Javascript (and frameworks such as Prototype, JQuery, Dojo) a strong plus
Knowledge of Objective-C, Cocoa, and Mac/iPhone
Frameworks a strong plus Experience in C#, SQL Server, a plus
Knowledge of HTML/CSS a plus Ability to work on-site in Midtown Manhattan
